07.01.08

The strong alpha brand is carried over to the Wittenstein name

One brand worldwide: from July 1, 2008 all business units and international subsidiaries in the Wittenstein Group will be united under the Wittenstein name.

The Wittenstein company (under various names) has been around since 1949. Learn more about the detailed history of the company. The new name of Wittenstein was established in 2001 to support the various niche markets and special drive requirements that emerged from alpha getriebebau (alpha gear drives, as it is known in North America).

While continuing to support and expand in traditional markets, Wittenstein's attention is increasingly focused on growth industries such as aerospace and alternative energy applications. For example, Wittenstein motion play a vital role in the harsh environment of the Norwegian Sea, extracting natural gas and oil several thousand feet under the ice sheets.

Being one with the future

The transition from a set of company brands to a globally standardized identity is a result of the Wittenstein Group's increased synergies and strength. With over 60 subsidiaries and agents in 40 countries around the world - Wittenstein presents a unified face to customers and the community as an expert in drive systems, gearing, electronics, industrial systems and special applications.

New names - worldwide

As of July 1, 2008, the Wittenstein North American subsidiary of alpha gear drives, Inc., established in 1993, will be known as WITTENSTEIN, Inc. The six other business units - WITTENSTEIN electronics, WITTENSTEIN motion control, WITTENSTEIN cyber motor, WITTENSTEIN intens, WITTENSTEIN bastian and WITTENSTEIN aerospace & simulation - will keep their existing names but appear in the new corporate color under the standardized WITTENSTEIN logo. The alpha logo will permanently change to the Wittenstein logo (see images below).
